What Are Keywords?

Keywords are specific terms that people type in search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing to find relevant information about what they are looking for.

Now there are hundreds and thousands if not billions of searches that happen every day daily on these search engines. And Search engines keep a track of all the data about what term is being searched for how many times and whatnot, everything into their database.

So you got the idea right, Keywords are the terms that real people like me and you type in the search engines for finding relevant information, those terms are called keywords.

Not everything that’s typed into search engines is called keywords, Keywords have some qualities that separate them from the rest of the terms.

  • Keywords have a specific search volume, It shows how many times a keyword is been searched in search engines per month, globally and locally.
  • Search volume can be as low as only 10 searches per month and as high as 1,000,000,000 searches per month.
  • Keywords have search volume for the local country and globally.
  • the local search volume of the keyword is always low as compared to the global search volume.
  • Profitable and good keywords have some Costs Per Click or in short CPC, although some keywords also have 0 CPC.
  • Popular keywords have competition and are difficult to rank.
  • There are short tail as well as long-tail keywords.
  • Keyword also has paid difficulty, which means how much competition is for that keyword for paid ads.
