Step 3: Create an app for web push notifications on Onesignal

After successfully creating an account on Onesignal, you now have to Create your website inside of Onesignal for push notifications.

Click on add App/Website.

Click on New App/Website Button

After that, follow the below-mentioned steps:

  1. It will ask for the name of the app you want to create. “Give a name to your APP.”
  2. Next, it will ask you to select one platform to configure
  3. Select Web Push which has the chrome browser’s icon in it
  4. Next, it will ask to choose the integration
  5. Select WordPress plugin and website builder
  6. After that, select WordPress
  7. It will ask for setting up your WordPress website’s information

    3. Auto resubscribe (For only HTTPS)

    5. My site is not fully HTTPS (Do not turn this on if your WordPress website has an SSL certificate or has HTTPS enabled)

Step 4: Get the API Secret and the API key

After following the above steps successfully, you will now receive an API ID and API KEY.

Step 6: Do the Onesignal plugin’s setting

After putting in the API credentials on the Onesignal’s configuration area, it’s time to do some extra settings.

Do the same settings mentioned below, and enable all these settings under the configuration tab of one signal.

  1. My site uses an HTTPS connection (SSL) ✔️ if SSL.
  2. Use the post’s featured image for the notification icon ✔️
  3. Use the post’s featured image for Chrome’s large notification image ✔️
  4. Hide notifications after a few seconds (NO✔️)
  5. Automatically prompt new site visitors to subscribe to push notifications ✔️
  6. Enable the Subscription to Bell ✔️
  7. Show the Subscription Bell after users have subscribed ✔️
  8. Show first-time site visitors an unread message icon ✔️
  9. Customize the Subscription Bell text ✔️
  10. Size (Medium ✔️)
  11. Position (Bottom Right ✔️)
  12. Theme (Red ✔️)
  13. Customize the HTTP Pop-Up Prompt text ✔️
  14. Send new users a welcome push notification after subscribing ✔️
  15. Automatically send a push notification when I create a post from the WordPress editor ✔️
  16. Show status message after sending notifications ✔️
